Q. How do you store rubber belts?
A.Proper storage of rubber belts maintains their quality and lifespan. Peg or pin racks are best suited for V-belts and similar types of belts. Store extremely long belts on ideally large pins or crescent-shaped saddles to prevent distortion. You can also coil belts into loops for storage, but be sure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines to prevent damage. Typically, you store conveyor belts rolled up on centres, facing outward, and supported on carrying sides. The stands must support such rolls straight to prevent unequal compression and breakage. Covering the rolls with tarps or waterproof material will also protect them from ozone, sunlight, and rain. Regular rotation of the rollers every ninety days or thereabouts will help to redistribute the weight and prevent camber issues. Store the belts dry and cool in a place with stable humidity and temperature levels. Avoid storing them near chemicals, heat sources, or areas with high ozone levels. Belts stored in their original packaging or wrapped when stored outside assist in maintaining their condition. Proper storage ensures that, during installation, the belts remain functional and perform as intended.
