Q. What is DSL in EOT crane?
A.DSL, or Dragline Supply Line, is a system put in place for supplying power to the operable components of an Electric Overhead Travelling crane. The DSL system comprises the conductor rail for providing power and a moving collector to travel along the rail. Thus, this system ensures a non-stop power supply while moving the crane over one track. The DSL system tries to overcome the drawbacks of conventional cable systems. It does away with long and overhead hanging cables that can get entangled or wear off. Instead, power is conveyed from the power source to the crane in a safe and efficient manner. It holds good for high power requirements of EOT cranes and, hence, is suitable for heavy lifting and industrial applications. The DSL system in EOT cranes increases reliability. It also improves safety and performance. Maintenance needs are reduced. The system ensures smooth, uninterrupted crane operations.
